STRUM
Short for STairs dRUM. An experiment in altering the sound of footsteps on stairs. What will wooden stairs become if they deliberately create sound?
Inspired by how sound changes the perception of space, I wanted to play with the acoustics of footsteps. Stairs naturally create sound; thuds of footsteps, echoes in space, creaking of wood. Outside this sensation seams to be lost. By converting steps into drums, stairs turn into a sound installation.
